Report to the Consumer Ombudsman

The Consumer Ombudsman does not resolve individual disagreements, but rather supervises compliance with consumer protection laws and safeguards consumer rights in general.

You can submit a report to the Consumer Ombudsman about the following matters, for example:

  • advertising that violates good practice
  • unfair sales practices
  • unfair sales terms
  • debt collection procedures that violate good practice
  • issues concerning guarantees
  • discount marketing
  • various deficiencies in consumer markets

The reports influence which matters we intervene in as a supervisory entity. If a matter concerns a different authority, we will forward your report accordingly and notify you about this.

In order to consider a matter, we will usually need materials related to it. Attach relevant information to your report, such as an ad with an indication of where it was published or an Internet address where it can be found. For TV or radio commercials as well, it is helpful to mention the date, the channel, and perhaps also the name of the program that was on before or after the commercial.

If your report involves any materials that cannot be sent electronically, please send it by mail to the following address:

Kuluttaja-asiamies
Kuluttajavirasto

Documents sent to the Consumer Ombudsman are public as long as they do not contain trade secrets, for example, or information protected by privacy laws. You can also submit a report without giving your name or contact information.
